Hannis T. Bourgeois Elects New Partners

Hannis T. Bourgeois, LLP is proud to announce they have named Daniel Darensbourg, Alicia Knighton, Nicholas Smith, and Chase Ruiz as Associate Partners of the firm effective January 1, 2022. “We are excited to welcome new associate partners to the firm, helping us ensure we have leadership to steward the firm for the foreseeable future,” said Managing Partner, Jay Montalbano. “Expanding leadership within the firm remains paramount to our mission because it reflects our desire to effectively serve the needs of our clients across future generations and key for employee recruiting and retention. We are thrilled with the addition of these new partners to the group.” 

Daniel P. Darensbourg, CPA, provides assurance services to a broad range of companies including many in the not-for-profit and construction industry. He also provides audit services for employee benefit plans to many clients in these industries. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“AICPA”), the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants (“LCPA”), and Construction Financial Management Association (“CFMA”). He holds both a B.S. and a M.S. in Accounting, from Louisiana State University.

Alicia J. Knighton, CPA, provides tax compliance, tax planning and consulting services to the firm’s diverse client base. She focuses her practice on corporate taxation with an emphasis on contractors and multi-state tax issues. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“AICPA”), the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants (“LCPA”), Construction Financial Management Association (“CFMA”), and Louisiana Association of Business Industry (“LABI”). Alicia also supports Braveheart Children in Need as a Board Member. She holds a B.S. in Accounting as well as a B.S. in Finance, both from Louisiana State University.

Nicholas J. Smith, CPA, provides services in the Client Advisory Services practice. He has several years of experience performing accounting, audit, compliance, and consulting services. Nicholas has worked with publicly traded companies and is knowledgeable on requirements of the Sarbanes‐Oxley Act (SOX) including internal controls and testing of the design and operating effectiveness. Nick has diversified accounting and consulting experience across a variety of industries and works closely with clients to understand complex financial situations and develop solutions aimed at minimizing tax burdens and maximizing value. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“AICPA”), and the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants (“LCPA”) as well as Forum 225 and completed the Barton Leadership Academy. He serves on the Board of Directors for O’Brien House and Grief Recovery Center. He is certified as a Pro advisor for QuickBooks, Bill.com and AICPA CAS. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Accounting from Louisiana State University.

Chase M. Ruiz, CPA, provides tax compliance, planning and consulting services to the firm’s diverse client base. He works with each client and their accounting team to ensure proper integration of financial data, and schedules resources to ensure timeliness. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“AICPA”), the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants (“LCPA”), Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (“ABC”), and the Louisiana Association of General Contractors (“LAGC”). He holds a B.S. in both Accounting and Finance from Louisiana State University.
