A Message From Our Managing Partner…

As we enter a new decade, HTB celebrates serving the communities for 95 years. The one constant since 1924 is that our focus remains solidly upon our team members and our clients. We carefully select, train, develop and coach our professionals to challenge themselves, take pride in their work, pay attention to the details and sustain a clear vision. This creates an ownership and accountability in addressing all of our client needs. Our team strives to deliver effective and innovative solutions to our clients which results in business success; focusing on the right things at the right moment to avert business issues and running their business with a peace of mind.
We were proud to be selected as one of the Best Places To Work in Baton Rouge by Baton Rouge Business Report, coming in at 5th place for 2019! As I look around and see the level of friendships formed, and community involvement, I am grateful for our team and our partners whom have created a fantastic following within HTB. This all contributes to a healthy and happy atmosphere that helps keep everyone focused and maintains motivation throughout the many busy periods and tight deadlines an accounting firm is subject to throughout the year.
We enjoy the strong relationships we have with our clients, many dating to the founding of our firm. We make it our priority to stay engaged in their business. We are well-versed in the varied industries in which we provide services. Our partners use their expertise, experience and knowledge while factoring industry-specific elements in today’s economy to successfully guide and advise their clients. We take pride in being our clients’ primary business resource.
Thank you for being a part of HTB! We are excited to continue to grow with you.

The SECURE Act likely to affect your retirement and estate plans

In late 2019, the first substantial legislation related to retirement savings since 2006 became law. The Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act brings numerous changes to the retirement and estate planning landscape, and some of them should prompt careful review of your existing plans to ensure they’ll accomplish the desired outcomes, including minimizing taxes.

Now, Where, How
By: Robert “Bobby” C. Varnau, CPA, CGMA, JD
Now – Where – How is a simple process to follow in order to develop a practical business plan, drive change, or structure the way you address any issue. It forces you to think about where you are NOW, WHERE you want to be, and then come back to developing the strategies and actions as to HOW you will get there.
