Although we cannot predict exactly how your career will unfold at HTB, we can give you an idea of how you could advance through our ranks. Note that each level builds upon the previous level.
Staff Accountant I - Works under close supervision; Usually executes audit assignments in the area of cash, fixed assets, income/expense analysis and internal control test procedures; Tax staff prepare tax returns and research tax issues.
Staff Accountant II - Has met the equivalent of one year of public accounting experience; Responsibilities are similar to those of Staff Accountant I, but additional areas are assigned as experience is gained.
Semi-Senior Accountant - Duties may range from running an entire engagement on a small client to the handling of the more complex areas on a larger engagement.
Senior Accountant - Audit Seniors are responsible for directing an engagement which consists of the proper planning and performance of field work and reporting its progress, supervises on-the-job training of all staff members under them; Tax Seniors prepare and review tax returns, offer suggestions for tax planning and potential client tax savings, assist in managing the tax staff
Manager - Audit Managers have client responsibility in planning, performing, and reporting on client engagements, reports directly to the partner-in-charge, and is in training for primary client responsibility; Tax Managers direct and review tax senior and staff, perform tax planning and research unusual tax matters, handle day-to-day client relationship issues
Senior Manager - Has primary client responsibility on numerous engagements; may be assigned to manage a special department in the firm
Partner - Responsible for overall client relationships and business development activities; To an extent, they specialize in certain industry areas as well as practice development
